TAMAR
VALLEY MARKETING PROJECT
The
Tamar Valley Marketing Project has reached its half way point – and
boasts some notable achievements. The £149,000
project was set up to promote the Tamar Valley following the 2001 Foot
and Mouth outbreak . The project played a major role in organising
the highly-praised Festival of the Tamar Valley in June. Other successes
include helping with the setting up of new cooperative initiatives among
craft workers, and fine wood furniture makers in the area; the promotion
of the Tamar Valley on a Wessex Trains railway carriage; supporting the
Tamar Valley Tourism Association’s Bridges of the Tamar Valley
competition and exhibition; promoting tourism through leaflets and accommodation
directories; and looking after the key website www.tamarvalleytourism.co.uk.
A number of journalists have visited the valley and written articles
about the area following invitations from the organisation. Marketing
advice for small businesses is arranged through West Devon Business Information
Point.
